The Muskingum Watershed, located in the Muskingum River Basin, is part of Ohio’s largest drainage system. Spanning five counties and portions of 22 others, this watershed covers more than 8,000 square miles and includes the area that drains into the Muskingum River and its tributaries. It is a system of 16 reservoirs providing flood control for the basin. It was created in 1933 under Chapter 6101 of the Ohio Revised Code, and is the largest conservancy district in Ohio, serving more than 2 million residents. The MWCD is dedicated to conservation and recreation conducted in harmony with flood control in the region, striving to enhance the quality of life in the Muskingum Lakes Region and beyond.

In 1997, the Ski Team was formed by local adults with the objective to offer the fun and excitement of water skiing to families who might not otherwise have access to boating and skiing expertise. Our members range from pre-schoolers to retirees, and include entire families. We offer “Learn to Ski” development for any new members. The public is always invited to participate in the excitement! We encourage you and your family to become involved in all team events and hope you make many new friends along the way.
The Ohio Water Ski Association has five major goals:
1.) To encourage recreational water sport safety and education.
2.) To promote organized and competitive water skiing in Ohio and encourage membership in the American Water Ski Association.
3.) To encourage and assist local water skiers and water ski clubs to participate in state, regional, and national water ski championships.
4.) To work toward establishing and maintaining an adequate group of qualified judges and other officials sanctioned by the American Water Ski Association, to serve the needs of water skiers in Ohio.
5.) To promote and coordinate competitive water skiing in Ohio by: Providing a central agency for tournament scheduling in coordination with the state councilperson; Acting as an advisory and/or controlling body for tournament rules; Assisting and regulating procurement of tournament equipment and officials; Offering education, equipment, and assistance to local groups planning water ski tournaments and/or educational clinics; Encourage new participants in the sport of water skiing; Encourage the passage of laws and regulations which allow a proper place for water skiing in the use of public and private waterways in the state; Encourage and assist in the procurement and development of new water ski sites and the preservation of existing ones.
