NEXT STOP - SATURDAY AUGUST 23 - NEVADA STATE FINALS - SKI OASIS

Stop 4 was awesome with great competition in both wakeboarding and skiing!  Some of these divisions are really starting to heat up as we wind down our local season and look forward to the US Championships October 1-4.  Big thanks to our local sponsor Marine Specialties and the great people with Nautique for their help at the clinic and the event.

On the slalom lake there was plenty of action.  In just her second tournament appearance,  Jan Coil skied awesomely and bumped into 3rd Class.  Jim Canepa just edged out Steve Subith and Tom Scott in Advanced Open for the day.  Mich McDowell, Justin Jackson, and Dan Duvall were all within 1 point of each other by the time the Mens Novice wrapped up.  In 2nd Class Nick McDowell continues to apply the heat to Paul Emery and Ernie Clifford in a classic battle of youth and strength versus experience and skill.  Don’t get too comfortable in these Nevada INT Slalom divisions….nobody is safe the way people are skiing!   At the end of the day Ken Baxter and Jim Canepa showed us all how real men get it done in the Old Wooden Ski Division.  It wasn’t pretty, but the skis sure were!

On the WB lake the battles continue in all the divisions.  Newcomers Ricky Worthen and Patrick McCuen proved formidable in their respective divisions, and Josh Buscay is really coming into his own in Mens Intermediate.  Laake Scates has defined consistency in Jr. Entro, and Kendelle Innis just keeps riding better and better.  Brieanna Baxter keeps on bouncing back and posting great scores.  Everyone is pushing hard, supporting each other, and riding better which is what we want to see this time of year!

See you all August 23 at Ski Oasis!

LESSONS

For water-skiing or wakeboarding lessons contact Troy Smith at 916-335-9163 or tsmith@sgwatersports.com.  Troy is a USA Certified Water-Ski Coach and Lake Manager at Bell Acqua Lake in Sacramento, CA.

LAHONTAN

We are aware of the low water situation at Lahontan and are watching it closely.  As we move forward with our June and July events there, we have begun looking into alternate sites if low water levels force us to relocate.

SKI OASIS

Stops 4 & 5 will be held at a new location for Nevada INT…..Ski Oasis Ski Club in Minden!  At this wonderful facility in the beautiful Carson Valley we will run skiing and wakeboarding simultaneously on 2 separate lakes.  Primitive camping will be allowed on the Friday night prior to each event, and there will be tacos and beverages available to purchase Saturday during the event.
