Stop 3 Wrap Up

Our first time at Lake Arrowhead was terrific!  The backdrop of mountains and sky made for a spectacular setting for wakeboarders and wakeskaters alike.  Thanks to our wonderful sponsors, Atlanta Marine and JOA Marine, for making it a success.  Competitors came from the Atlanta area and as far away as Florida and North Carolina.  Check out the standings to see if you are in the running for USC!!

Many thanks to the folks who stepped up and volunteered during the weekend.  We had new folks learning to judge, dock start, record, drive, register competitors, and announce.  That’s what INT of Georgia (or any INT League for that matter) needs in order to survive.

The search still continues for a special family who is interested in taking over as the Georgia INT State Coordinator.  Please contact Mark Miller if you are interested in learning more (contact information below).

USC:  We are now offering an opportunity for both 1st and 2nd place state winners to compete at the US Championships which will take place Oct 1st - 4th in Bakersfield, CA.  If it appears that you are going to finish in either 1st or 2nd place start checking flights and make reservations NOW to secure a room at either the Double Tree Inn (host hotel) or the Red Lion Hotel.

STUDENT COMPETITORS WITH A “B” AVERAGE:  Write an essay entitled “How the INT League Has Affected my LIfe” and you can qualify for a $1000 scholarship….  Must be received by September 1st. See rule book for complete details.

Exceptional Performances:

Johnny Tobaben became Georgia’sfirst Pro wakeboarder to qualify for the 2008 US Championships in Bakersfield, CA.  Riding for JOA Marine, Johnny laid down an awesome stand up run on Sunday that put him on the short list of wakeboarders currently qualified to compete at the USC.  Only the top 12 pro wakeboarders from across the country (based on scores) will be invited to the USC.  Go to Pro Division Scores to see how Johnny’s score (13,800 trick, 5000 style) stacks up!

Joey Buss bumped from Jr. Novice to Jr. Intermediiate and Brett Van and Craig Buss bumped from Men’s Novice to Men’s Intermediate!  Please pardon us for not noticing their exceptional performances until after the weekend.  However after reviewing score sheets these guys were throwing tricks that easily bumped them to Intermediate.  Congrats on some pretty impressive runs guys and keep going bigger and better!

Brand new boats for Stops 1 and 2 were provided by JOA Marine (Centurion Enzo) and Atlanta Inboard (Malibu Wake Setter).  Comments about the wakes overheard around the starting dock included words like “huge”, “sick”, and “totally awesome”!
